Landscapes
Always painted at the location whatever the weather conditions. Often my paintings have dribbles down them from the English rain.
My landscapes are mostly from England, Scotland and Ireland. I never get tired of exploring small areas of the countryside. There are always gems to be found. The difficult part is trying to capture the gems on paper or canvas whilst balanced on rocks, crawling through undergrowth or avoiding herds of cattle.
The next battle is to get the still wet paintings back to the car, often quite a trek. I once counted over 100 flies stuck to one oil painting by the time I got it "home".
When the weather suddenly turns I can often be found in public loos trying to get a painting dry under the hand drier - quite difficult when I paint big and the hand drier is a hole in the wall type. It can be done!
